Twenty years here, and I'm still discovering things.
I came here from Philly 20 years ago, figured I'd stay a couple years and go back. Philly had culture — DC was just politics and museums. But I grew to love this area — Arlington, then the whole corridor from Alexandria to DC. Whenever friends visited, I'd build them itineraries of the best things to do. I became the guy who always knew what was happening.
But here's the thing — even I don't know everything. I'm still discovering events that have been happening for years. And I live here. If I'm missing things, imagine what a visitor misses.
That feeling — what am I not seeing? — is what led me here.
I spent 20 years in software, including designing rapid-decision displays for Navy operators — systems where the right information has to reach the right person at a glance.
